Hello, My name is Jane Jones and I'm a 15 year old student. I am a keen musician, having grown up with music all my life. I have sung with Southwark Cathedral Girl's choir for 8 years and have played the cello for an equal amount of time. I regularly perform in payed gigs as a solo artist and with ensembles. I often play or sing at open mic. nights at local pubs. My voice repertoire ranges from 16th century, early music, having for many years performed on a weekly basis with my dad on the lute and me singing, to blues and jazz pieces. I have experience in performing with orchestras /choirs as well as on my own and attend the Centre for Young Musicians where I am involved in the senior folk ensemble, cello ensemble and string quartets.
I have been studying cello for many years now with a fantastic and experienced cellist; Jane Hyland-Friend and coached in singing with Joyce Jarvis a well achieved mezzo-soprano. The girls choral director at Southwark Cathedral; Mr Stephen Disley who has included me in live recordings and concerts from a very early age. My dad, Rick Jones, music journalist and accomplished lutenist has encouraged me greatly and taught me in depth all my music knowledge and theory and introduced me to music from a child.
